For the seventh edition of our raffia scented candle collections, we have chosen to turn to the realm of the great Mexican artist Frida Kalho. As a committed and deeply nationalistic woman, she was a model for freedom and resilience for an entirepeople in a Mexico shaken by political instability. Her figurative paintings, very richin selfportraits, constitute a diary of her sufferings. Frida Magdalena Carmen Khaloy Calderon turned to painting as a remedy for her pain. Her work is subtle, colorful, almost surrealist, although she refuses to be labeled as part of this school of artists. Frida is politically, personally and emotionally engaged. Her love for the artist Diego Rivera consumed her.
